Azeez Lamina Oshoala (A.L.O), often known by his business moniker "Waves," hails from a notable family in Ikorodu, Lagos. He is the first son in a family of five, with deep roots in the community through his father, Mr. Ganiu Lamina, and mother, Alhaja Balqis of the Agunmate family. A proud scion of the Oshoala family, Azeez’s early years were marked by intellectual curiosity and leadership qualities, excelling in academics and often representing his schools in various quiz and debate competitions. These formative experiences nurtured his ambition and desire to inspire others, which would later define his career and social impact.
Azeez is an ardent lover of the classroom, holding multiple degrees that reflect his diverse interests and commitment to personal development. He holds two Master’s degrees: an Executive Master’s in Corporate Communications from Rome Business School, Italy, and a Master’s in Mass Communication from the National Open University of Nigeria. In addition, he earned an MBA from Valencia University, Spain.
His academic journey began with an OND in Mass Communication from Lagos State Polytechnic (now LASUSTECH) in 2006, followed by a Bachelor's in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University in 2012. Azeez is also an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), an alumnus of Fate Foundation Business School, and the Nigerian Broadcast Academy. In March 2024, he was admitted to the prestigious *FORBES BLK* community and recognized as a 'Coach' by the LASU Debate Society, further solidifying his role as a thought leader and mentor.
Azeez Lamina Oshoala is the CEO of Waves Media Limited, a company he founded at the age of 22. His media outlets have become prominent platforms for thought-provoking discussions, youth empowerment, and entertainment.
Despite his media success, Azeez has also dedicated
himself to public service. For 20 years, he has served in
the Lagos State Civil Service, starting as a Clerical
Officer at Ikorodu North LCDA and rising through the ranks
to become the Senior Public Affairs Officer and Chief
Press Secretary to the Chairman. In 2023, Azeez expanded
his influence by founding *Waves Foundation*, an NGO
advocating for Nigerian youth, encouraging them to excel
through mentorship and educational programs.
His work has earned him multiple accolades, including
Entrepreneur of the Year and Youth of the Year awards.
Looking ahead, Azeez is aspiring to run for the position
of Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government in 2025.
His goal is to implement policies and programs that will
have a tangible, positive impact on the lives of the
people of Ikorodu.Â
Azeez Lamina Oshoala (A.L.O) is a proud and authentic son
of Ikorodu, Lagos from both parents with deep-rooted
ancestral ties. His paternal lineage is the highly revered
Ajagbemokeferi family of Itunmaja. His paternal
grandfather was Alhaji Lamina Oshoala, the late Are of
Itunmaja Central Mosque. His maternal grandfather was Mr.
Gafar Agunmate who hails from the distinguished Dejuwogbo
family of Itunmaja.
His paternal grandmother was Alhaja Raliat Oshoala (née
Ibilola) from the Awosesu family of Isele. His maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Sikirat Idowu Oyebanjo (née Oke), hails
from Likosi.
Azeez's father, Mr. Ganiu Lamina Oshoala, is the immediate
younger brother of the late Mr. Lateef Lamina, a former
Secretary of Epe Local Government. His mother, Alhaja
Balqis, belongs to the Dejuwogbo family of Ikorodu.
Growing up in the mid-1980s, A.L.O spent his early years
in Itunmaja in the midst of extended family members. A
situation that immersed him with the rich cultural
heritage of Ikorodu. He benefited from the guidance and
mentorship of elders in the community, embodying the
values and traditions of his heritage. During his primary
school years, Azeez would often spend his afternoons with
his grandfather, Are Lamina, who ran a padlock shop in the
heart of Itunmaja. During festivals, he took a front-row
seat at the shop to enjoy the Agemo dance parade and other
traditional cultural practices, embracing his identity as
a true son of the soil.
It may be of interest to know that Azeez Lamina Oshoala
has dedicated over twenty years to public service in Lagos
State. He began his career on June 1, 2004, as a Clerical
Officer at Ikorodu North LCDA, where his ambition and
vision propelled him through the ranks.
He ultimately rose to the position of Senior Public
Affairs Officer and served as Chief Press Secretary to the
Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Deola
Banjo, before being reassigned to Ikorodu West LCDA. With
his extensive experience, Azeez has gained a deep
understanding of the local government system and the
unique challenges of the terrain.
When Azeez Lamina Oshoala founded his media company, he
was just a first-year student pursuing his Ordinary
National Diploma (OND). Balancing the demands of a startup
with his academic responsibilities was challenging, yet he
remained focused and committed. After completing his OND
in 2006, he advanced to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mass
Communication, specializing in Public Relations and
Advertising, from Lagos State University. His pursuit of
knowledge did not stop there; he became a member of the
Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to enhance
his professional credentials.
Azeez furthered his education by enrolling at Rome
Business School in Italy for an international certificate
in Corporate Communications, while simultaneously pursuing
a Master’s degree in Mass Communication at the National
Open University. Not one to rest on his laurels, he also
sought an MBA from Valencia University in Spain. As he
achieved these academic milestones, observers recognized
his rising trajectory as a savvy businessman and
passionate learner, leading to invitations to speak at
seminars, symposiums, and schools.
As a young leader from a modest background who has forged
a successful career, Azeez serves as a powerful source of
inspiration for the younger generation, tirelessly
dedicating himself to uplifting others.

As early as age 22, Azeez founded his own media company,
Waves Media Limited where he serves as the CEO and works
there till this moment. Waves Media Limited stands tall as
a prominent player in the media landscape, with proven and
impeccable track record of excellence and recognitions.
Since the inception of the company in 2007, the
organization has grown into a full-fledged media
powerhouse, publishing the all-glossy Waves Magazine for
over a decade. Waves Media also produces the Waves Gist
Zone radio show, a popular talk show that airs on Unilag
103.1 FM, and as if that is not enough, also have under
its belt, Wavesplus TV Show that broadcasts on Lagos
Television, DSTV Channel 256, GOTV Channel 90, and
Startimes Channel 113.
As a journalist, Azeez has interviewed numerous
distinguished individuals, capturing the stories of
society's most influential figures. His career highlights
include an interview with the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande,
the former Governor Emeritus of Lagos State which was
featured in Waves Magazine. Through his dedication and
professionalism, Azeez has established meaningful
connections with prominent personalities therefore
solidifying his reputation and identity as a thoroughbred
media professional with a huge knowledge of the print and
broadcast industry in Nigeria.
Azeez Lamina Oshoala has lived all his life in Ikorodu and
owes most of his earliest civilization to the community.
A.L.O will always return to sleep in Ikorodu except he is
out of the country.
He is a Board Member of the Ikorodu Town Hall Management
Board and a prominent member of the Eminent Persons of
Ikorodu division, where he makes valuable contributions to
community issues and offers professional services pro
bono.
Over the years, Azeez has contributed to various courses
across Ikorodu Constituency 1 and 2. His media company,
Waves Media, was established in Ikorodu, where he
initially covered local events, promoted community
figures, and contributed to various committees within the
political, traditional, and social spheres since 2007.
Azeez has consistently volunteered his time and expertise
to foster the growth and development of his hometown,
demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the develolment
of Ikorodu.
Through his media organization, Azeez Lamina Oshoala has
made significant impact on the lives of many, spreading
joy and generosity to various social causes. In fact, to
affirm his generous nature, he floated a non-profit making
foundation that caters to the inspirational needs of the
younger generation.
Apart from his personal donations to people who crosses
his path, Azeez founded Waves foundation as an arm of his
media company with the vision to ensure the younger
generation do better. Azeez is very passionate about
ensuring a brighter future for the younger ones because he
believes if the youths know better they will do better.
An acknowledged giver, Azeez has already earned a
reputation of someone who enjoys putting smiles on the
faces of others. If you approach him for what he can
single handedly handle, he would gladly oblige and if he
can't, he would offer kind words.
Every anniversary of his media company is marked by
donations to those in need, reflecting his gratitude for
the blessings he has received. Azeez has donated
bookshelfs stocked with books to school libraries,
rewarded outstanding students and provided support to
young people in various ways.
Azeez Lamina Oshoala has dedicated his life to various
volunteer initiatives, embodying a commitment to service
and value creation. As the Convener of Waves Foundation, a
non-profit organization focused on youth advocacy and
empowerment, he strives to make a meaningful impact in the
lives of young people.
Additionally, Azeez serves as the Secretary of Nurah
Foundation, a non-governmental organization that educates
both Muslims and non-Muslims on social and religious
issues affecting their communities. With over a decade of
volunteering for Nurah Foundation, he has organized
seminars and symposiums that have benefited many
individuals. Azeez is also a member of the Jimi Benson
iCare Foundation, where he actively supports the important
work of the Member of the House of Representatives.

After undergoing a Green Economy Development training organized by the Hubwei Vocational college of Bio-technology in wuhan, China A. L. O is beyond pumped to invest his wealth of knowledge in the prosperous development of our beloved town, and make it a mega city. It will be difficult for sure, but with the brilliant minds he has invested in their growths and the collective efforts of the people, he is confident and ready to steer Ikorodu in the right direction.
All focus is on enhancing Ikorodu’s infrastructure and facilities to improve daily living. He prioritizes modernizing roads, schools, and healthcare centers, ensuring they’re accessible and well-maintained. His vision is to create a safer, more connected community where public spaces and essential services meet the needs of all residents.
Azeez Lamina Oshoala (ALO) is dedicated to strengthening security in Ikorodu, ensuring every resident feels safe. He advocates for community policing, modern surveillance, and collaborative efforts with law enforcement to deter crime. His approach focuses on creating a secure environment where families can thrive and businesses can flourish without fear.
